Originally known as Edo, it became the center of power in 1603 under the Tokugawa shogunate and today stands as the country’s political, economic, and cultural hub. The city is divided into 23 wards and includes smaller cities, towns, and even Pacific islands such as Izu and Ogasawara. Located in the Kanto region, it borders the prefectures of Chiba, Yamanashi, Kanagawa, and Saitama. Despite being the third smallest prefecture (2,187 km²), Tokyo offers striking geographical variety—from coastal plains to mountains reaching 2,000 meters. It’s a major industrial and commercial center with a growing transport network. From Tokyo to Takayama

Located in northern Gifu Prefecture, Takayama is a historic feudal town known for its traditional wooden houses, uniform in height and beautifully aligned, giving the streets a sense of balance and charm. From Kanazawa to Kyoto
